LEE HAILEY JOINS AS
INFRASTRUCTURE DIRECTOR
Lee is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 years of experience in the design, management and delivery of highway and civil engineering infrastructure projects associated with retail, residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments.
His experience covers initial concept and feasibility studies, negotiating planning consents, securing detailed design approvals, construction procurement, through to client handover.
By helping clients to successfully deliver their infrastructure objectives Lee has developed close working relationships and become a trusted advisor.
Outside of work Lee enjoys time travelling with his wife, recreational sailing and yacht racing, and is a keen rugby fan.

CAVENDISH SQUARE APPROVED
Velocity are delighted that our work on this spectacular project for Reef Group resulted in an approval by Virtual Committee this week.
Planning permission received for Cavendish Square London, a mixed used development below one of London’s most historic squares. Designed for the $4.5 trillion global health and wellbeing industry, the 280,000 sq ft scheme will deliver specialist accommodation for the growing Harley Street Medical District, alongside premium retail, leisure and technology space.
Cavendish Square Gardens provide a natural extension of the subterranean space and an embodiment of the scheme’s vision – a wellbeing ecosystem in the heart of London.
LILLE BIT OF STUDY, LILLE BIT OF FUN
As part of a study tour, Velocity Team spent an amazing long weekend away in Lille.
After a very quick journey on the Eurostar, the team enjoyed a great dinner at "La Crepêrie de Lille", sampling traditional crêpes and cidre.
Saturday started with a guided city tour, enabling us to discover the architecture, urban design and transport system of the city. We then found ourselves assisting the FBI, trying to solve a crime, in an exciting team building puzzle activity. The day ended with an amazing meal at the "Brasserie de la Paix à Lille".
On Sunday we wandered around the Christmas Market, enjoyed the views from the heights of Beffroi de Lille, and explored the local shops before heading back to London.
OFFICE WARMING PARTY
We have celebrated our two year anniversary and moving to new premises.
With great attendance, chat, laughter and delicious food, it was a great evening which gave us a chance to thank everyone who has been part of our journey so far.

PENTAVIA GETS THE GO AHEAD
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, yesterday approved plans to redevelop the disused Pentavia Retail Park in Mill Hill to provide 844 new homes – of which 41 percent will be affordable.
Velocity director Lloyd Bush has been involved with the proposals since their inception, and considerable work by the whole team has brought forward a proposal that re-stitches the site into the surrounding area by providing a number of new pedestrian and cycle connections as well as varied routes across the site.

CONSENT GRANTED FOR 343 ROOM HOTEL & 6,000 SQM OFFICE
Velocity Transport Planning is delighted to have assisted our client in securing planning consent for a 343 bedroom hotel, 6,000 sqm office, a gym, community and retail uses within the London Borough of Hackney.
The site is in a prominent location at the junction of Old Street and Great Eastern Street, and is within the newly implemented ultra low emissions streets, or ULEV streets.

We recently received a visit from Phoebe, who loves investigating peoples bags and stealing scarfs! Otherwise she also likes curling up for a nap or telling Lloyd all about Transport Planning.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM BRUSSELS
The Velocity team was recently taken away for a Christmas getaway to Brussels. As well as enjoying plenty of bière and waffles, the team found the time to visit various transport related museums and exhibitions, test out some electric scooters, and complete a treasure hunt around the city!
WIND TUNNEL TESTING FOR PEDESTRIAN COMFORT
Our Director Lloyd Bush was recently fortunate enough to attend a wind tunnel test on one of our current projects. The proposed development consists of 343 hotel rooms, 6,000 sqm office, a gym, community and retail uses, and is located in LB Hackney. One of the key elements of the test related to mitigating impacts to pedestrians and cyclists by introduction of vegetation into the landscaping strategy without detrimentally impacting upon pedestrian comfort in what is a very busy area.

VELOCITY INSTRUMENTAL IN SECURING NEW BUS SERVICE
Velocity has helped to transform the aspirations of staff at one of Europe’s premier business parks, Stockley Park, wishing to see vastly improved and demand responsive bus connectivity to the local rail network into reality.
Velocity informed the business case for the new service, which links staff with Hayes & Harlington Station to accommodate peak time demand.
The bus route is operated as a collaboration between Chariot and sustainable transport group, easitNETWORK.
CONSENT GRANTED FOR 252 STUDENT RESIDENCES
The University for the Creative Arts received the go-ahead for its student residences scheme at WBC’s Planning Committee last week. The scheme will provide 252 student bedrooms on the campus in five new buildings, ranging from 3-4 storeys, and includes comprehensive soft and hard landscaping proposals for the Campus.

VELOCITY WELCOMES A NEW PRINCIPAL TRANSPORT PLANNER
Velocity is delighted to announce that Wai-Lan Lie has joined the team as a Principal Transport Planner. Wai-Lan has in excess of 15 years experience gained predominantly a Capita, where she worked alongside our Director Chris Gent in the past.

CONSENT GRANTED FOR 40,000 SQ FT OFFICES
Velocity Transport Planning is delighted to have assisted our client Golden Apple in securing planning consent for a 40,000 sq ft Office development with ground floor retail uses, to be known as 'The Curve'.
It will be the first new town centre development in High Wycombe for 15 years, and is designed to accommodate multiple occupiers.
VELOCITY TAKE PART IN STOCKLEY 10K RUN
Our client, Stockley Park, invited Velocity to take part in the Stockley 10k run earlier this month. This year marked the event’s 10th anniversary and was attended by 250 runners (opened by the Mayor of Hillingdon, pictured with the Stockley Park team).
David from Velocity ran for the Stockley Park team on a route with a mixture of tree-lined trails and wide, traffic-free roads. David completed the race in just under 50 minutes, placing him 74th.
Having had no previous experience and one weeks preparation, David was happy with his time, but later found out that he was beaten to the finish line by a man who ran in flip flops!

VELOCITY MAKES ANOTHER KEY DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT
Velocity is delighted to announce that Tom Mabelson has joined the team as an Equity Director. Tom has particular experience of providing transport planning advice to unlock large and complex projects in Central London, combining detailed negotiations with TfL and City of London officers . During the past five years Tom has been fortunate to work on prestigious schemes such as One Blackfriars, 22 Bishopsgate, 1 Undershaft, Bankside Yards and Stephenson Street. Tom was formerly at WSP London and worked alongside fellow Velocity Directors Jonathan and Chris.

With the start of the new year we've been reflecting on our achievements since we formed in May, which has seen us involved in projects spanning a broad range of sectors:
- 6 Residential led developments, the largest of which is 700+ units;
- 4 Leisure projects, the largest being a 500+ room outer London site;
- 10 Education projects, spanning from Primary Schools to Universities, the largest of which is a new Secondary School for 1,200 pupils in Hertfordshire;
- 5 Industrial developments; and
- 3 Office / Retail led developments.
THE SHIRE LONDON
Velocity Transport Planning directors Jonathan and Lloyd were delighted to be invited by Trowers and Hamlins to play golf recently at The Shire London.
The Shire is home to the only Seve Ballesteros course in the UK. No two consecutive holes are the same par. Six threes, six fours, six fives. There are links holes, parkland holes, and dramatic water holes.
Jonathan and Lloyd were lucky to be paired with two in form golfers and came away as part of the winning team on the day receiving champagne, new balls, and a pair of trophies for the cabinet. Thanks to the Trowers and Hamlins team for a memorable day!
VELOCITY BID SUCCESS WITH KIER
Velocity Transport Planning is delighted to be supporting Kier following their successful bid to deliver a new free secondary school serving South West Hertfordshire. The new school will provide a high quality education to over 1200 students aged 11-18.
Velocity is providing transport planning and highway advice in support of the planning application, and will be undertaking significant consultation with Hertfordshire County Council and Three Rivers DC.

CONSENT FOR UCA FILM & MEDIA CENTRE
Velocity Transport Planning is delighted to have assisted our client, the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), obtain planning consent for a new Film & Media Centre on their Farnham Campus.
We are continuing to support UCA by helping them to develop a campus wide Travel Plan and car park management strategy, which will seek to improve parking facilities and encourage students and staff to travel to the campus more sustainably.
NEW CENTURY PARK - LUTON AIRPORT
Velocity Transport Planning is currently assisting our client to understand the transport impacts associated with London Luton Airport Ltd's (LLAL) proposals to create 70 acres of new commercial development to the north-east of the existing airport terminal. The development, known as New Century Park, will be accessed via a new roundabout on New Airport Way and a 1.6 mile access road passing through the existing Airport Business Park.
PUBLIC CONSULTATION EVENT IN BARNET
Velocity Transport Planning were pleased to support Meadow Residential at a two day public consultation that attracted over 200 members of the public. It is proposed to develop 230 new PRS flats and ground floor retail units on an existing office site. The event was an excellent opportunity to discuss the transport implications of the development with local people, and reassure them that that the transport implications have been fully considered and will result in improved traffic conditions.
PARK PLAZA LONDON WATERLOO OPENS
Park Plaza London Waterloo recently welcomed its first guests; the biggest hotel opening in London in 2017. Our Directors were involved in helping to secure planning permission for this new 494 room hotel, located by Lambeth North Underground and Waterloo station.
